Hana Mengesha, an Ethiopian immigrant, along with her husband Dawit Gebrehiwet Mengesha, has built Precision Clinical Laboratory (PCL Precision) into a thriving healthcare service provider over the past eight years. From its base in Aurora, Colorado, PCL has grown into a mobile and in-person clinical laboratory that delivers essential medical services to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences across the U.S.
PCL Precision provides a wide range of services, including x-rays, ultrasounds, EKGs, echocardiograms, and lab tests, with a focus on rapid turnaround times—4 hours for STAT labs and 8 hours for routine samples. “Here at PCL, we work with many facilities and customers. The company has expanded beyond Colorado, opening offices in Chicago, Cincinnati, Maryland, Virginia, Atlanta, and even an international location in Ethiopia. This growth has been accompanied by the development of a diverse workforce of 30 full-time and part-time employees, further establishing PCL as a reliable partner in the healthcare industry. The business currently serves over 35 nursing homes, with key clients such as Vivagen and Shalom Park.
PCL Precision’s revenue stream reflects the importance of public healthcare systems, with Medicare accounting for 65% of their earnings, followed by Medicaid (25%) and commercial insurance providers (10%). Their partnership with property management companies that oversee nursing homes across the U.S. demonstrates their commitment to serving vulnerable populations with high-quality medical care.
